UBC Okanagan is expanding its main campus.
The UBC Properties Trust was issued a building permit this week to allow for construction of an interdisciplinary collaboration innovation building on campus.
The project is estimated to cost $87 million.
According to information obtained from the UBCO website, the four-storey building would include 13,564 square metres of space, containing teaching, research, office and community and engagement space.
The building would also feature 100 and 200 seat lecture theatres.
It will be constructed on Alumni Avenue, directly across from Nonis Field and south of the Engineering, Management and education building.
There’s no indication when construction is set to begin or a time frame for completion.
This is the first of two major projects proposed by the university through the UBC Properties Trust.
The other being the 43-storey downtown campus on Doyle Avenue.
