The Kelowna success story scored two recent victories that has co-founder Avi Gill smiling these days. The first is the launch of company’s new beverage line, Farming Karma Hydr8, and the second is a new partnership in which its products will be sold in Western Canadian Costco stores.

“That’s a big one for us,” Gill says. “We’re really humbled by it. We’re a farming family. It’s not something that was in our cards. It’s a big deal for our company, and we’re super excited about that.”

Costco will sell variety packs of Farming Karma’s fruit sodas after the two sides worked out a deal. Gill said it was a long process, but the wait was worth it.

“We have top of the line food safety, and our systems are in place to handle a customer such as Costco,” Gill says. “We’ve just been working at it for a while and growing our brand and getting the support locally especially, so we’re happy to bring our product into a large retailer like that.”

Farming Karma Hydr8 is a lighter version of its fruit sodas, featuring other types of fruit as well as natural electrolytes from coconut water. It is an ideal hydration drink for those looking to live healthier.

“It’s a really refreshing kind of new beverage line,” Gill says.

Farming Karma’s fruit sodas contain 70 calories and 15 grams of sugar, but Hydr8 has approximately 30 calories and five grams of sugar from the fruit, making it a refreshing option while enjoying those warm Okanagan summer days. It has great taste and low sugar but has no artificial colours, sweeteners or preservatives.

“We’ve been getting a lot of buzz lately,” Gill says. “Customers come in to purchase our fruit sodas and mocktails, but more times than not they’re walking away with handfuls of the Hydr8.

“It’s just the next step that we’ve taken as a beverage company.”

Farming Karma Hydr8 flavours are sparkling blood orange, sparkling strawberry-lemonade, sparkling watermelon and sparkling grape. They can be found at Safeways and Thrifty Foods in B.C. and at Peter’s Independent Grocer in Kelowna?.
