The company skiKrumb has added the resort municipality to its system and now offers its services at five popular ski destinations in Canada, including Revelstoke, Big White, Mt. Sima and Apex.

The Okanagan-based company’s technology provides skiers and snowboarders with live updates every 10 seconds on an interactive 3D map, as well as daily replays, tracks statistics such as runs, distance and altitude.

The skiKrumb technology will also be used at Sun Peaks to show the location of the complimentary shuttle throughout the day along with the daily schedule both on the Sun Peaks website and in the skiKrumb app.

SkiKrumb is also launching skiKrumb Unbound, which will no longer require customers needing to access a cellular network or WiFi to see where their friends and family were on the mountain. If the skiKrumb device is connected to the company’s network they will be able to see where their friends and family are on a map on their phone even with no cell connection.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Sun Peaks to the skiKrumb family,” Keith MacIntyre, CEO of skiKrumb said in a press release. “Sun Peaks is known as a family resort with world-class skiing and snowboarding, and we’re excited to offer skiKrumb to their guests. Our customers last year have told us that skiKrumb changed their entire skiing experience and they will never ski without it again.”

MacIntyre has been at Sun Peaks this Thanksgiving weekend at an educational table at the Turkey Sale located in the village square, with units available for purchase.

The devices are small, rechargeable and can transmit many kilometres. They don’t freeze in the cold and are the most reliable tech for the challenging environment of resorts, MacIntyre said.

The company’s platform is available as a mobile app and a website. The app is free to download and use. skiKrumb devices are available for purchase for $175 through the company’s website or in person at the Turkey sale this weekend and will include a fee subscription for this season at all skiKrumb enabled resorts.

The company was recently announced as the third best startup in B.C. in the New Ventures BC startup competition.
